Job summary

Ververica, the original creator of Apache Flink, is seeking a Sales Engineer to blend deep technical acumen with business insight in a remote-friendly global team. You will translate customer needs into platform capabilities, run technical discovery, deliver demos, and guide customers from first call to close.

You will collaborate with Sales, Product, Customer Success and Engineering to design tailored streaming solutions, build reusable assets, and represent the company at events.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture or similar role.
• Hands-on familiarity with streaming architectures and data pipelines.
• Knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP) and deployment models.
• Ability to communicate with engineers and executives at different levels.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Java/Scala/Python).
• Experience scoping and running proofs of concept against success criteria.
• Ability to take initiative with limited supervision and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Discover: perform technical discovery to identify pain points and outcomes.
• Design: craft streaming architectures mapping the platform to the data landscape.
• Demonstrate: deliver product demos and lead proofs of concept.
• Win: provide technical validation to support deals and trust.
• Own the technical narrative in RFPs, security reviews and executive briefings.
• Advise Product/Engineering with field insights to influence the roadmap.
• Build reusable demo assets, reference architectures and enablement material.
• Partner with Customer Success for a clean handover to production.
• Represent Ververica at industry events and community forums.
• Stay current on streaming, data and AI trends to sharpen positioning.
