Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer to work on the Apache Flink-based MSF service, building distributed stream processing engines and contributing to open source.

You will design, implement, and optimize cloud-based streaming components, collaborate with product and development management, and participate in on-call rotations and operations to ensure reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

• working on making improvements to the stream processing engine, Apache Flink to make MSF service the defacto service to run stream processing application
• upstream compatibility is a core tenet of MSF service and your changes to improve the engine will be contributed back to open source
• working on improving efficiency and availability of the engine, adding ease of use features and push the envelope of stream processing
• writing quality, reusable code for highly scalable and reliable cloud-based services
• working closely with product and development management to architect the service
• being a champion for operational excellence by Insisting on the Highest Standards
• writing code that continuously improves service reliability and availability
