Senior Process Engineer – Sales & Proposal Engineer
The successful Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for marketing and selling all of the company’s steelmaking and casting equipment products in the NAFTA market, providing aftermarket support in the form of service and revamp proposals, and representing the company’s interests.
What You’ll Do
- In conjunction with the Sales Managers, Engineering Department and Automation Department, determine which references will be used for equipment and cost.
- Manage proposal writing and editing.
- Manage sales calls and attend sales functions as required.
- Oversee layout work for proposal preparation.
- Handle proposal, metallurgical and process calculations.
- Coordinate project activities with team members during the proposal stage.
- Coordinate engineering work for proposal preparation.
- Prepare and edit cost estimates for proposed projects.
- Give technical presentations of proposals to prospective customers.
- Present SMS group’s capabilities to prospective customers.
- Coordinate with main mechanical vendors for proposal purposes.
- Communicate with inter‑departmental or inter‑company contacts concerning proposals.
- Develop and execute marketing strategy for NAFTA region customers, including communications and visits.
- Identify potential projects (new equipment and aftermarket), select appropriate technologies, and develop technical and commercial specifications.
- Manage the company’s NAFTA contracts, including customer and supplier liaison.
- Provide customer support and liaison for the company’s domestic references.
- Travel approximately 15‑20% of the time for customer and supplier visits or internal company meetings.
What You’ll Need
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a Metallurgical degree (required).
- Minimum 10 years of experience with industrial steelmaking and/or continuous casting technology, including solidification, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and heat processing/melting applications. Steelmaking and/or continuous casting process engineering experience is required.
- Experience with combustion and process design is a plus.
- Self‑motivated with creativity, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work well in a diverse team environment.
- Excellent computer skills, with emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
