About the Opportunity
We are partnering with an established construction organization seeking a motivated, hands‑on Senior Safety Coordinator to support safety operations across commercial construction and heavy civil/infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction safety professional who enjoys being in the field, working directly with crews, and playing an active role in maintaining safe and productive jobsites.
Reporting directly to the Safety Director, this individual will help execute safety initiatives, conduct jobsite inspections, facilitate employee training, and promote a proactive safety culture across multiple projects.
We are looking for someone who leads by example, not someone who simply checks boxes. The ideal candidate is approachable, confident, detail‑oriented, and comfortable interacting with field personnel at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular field safety inspections, jobsite audits, and hazard assessments across active construction projects.
- Partner closely with the Safety Director to implement, maintain, and improve company‑wide safety programs and procedures.
- Identify potentially unsafe conditions, recommend corrective actions, and follow through to ensure concerns are addressed.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, MOSHA, and applicable construction safety regulations.
- Work directly with superintendents, foremen, and field crews to reinforce safe work practices and improve employee engagement.
- Assist with incident and accident investigations, documentation, root‑cause analysis, and preventative measures.
- Coordinate and facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, employee orientations, and ongoing safety training.
- Support field operations involving commercial construction, heavy equipment, roadway work, and infrastructure projects.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, incident reports, safety documentation, and compliance tracking.
- Utilize digital safety reporting platforms, Microsoft Office, and electronic documentation tools.
- Assist in evaluating and improving safety processes, training materials, and field procedures.
- Provide timely communication to the Safety Director regarding jobsite concerns, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Travel between multiple project locations while maintaining a consistent and engaged field presence.
- Support occasional evening or weekend operations and emergency safety response as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- 1–2+ years of construction safety experience preferred, with a strong foundation in field safety practices.
- Experience conducting jobsite inspections, identifying hazards, and supporting corrective‑action initiatives.
- Working knowledge of OSHA/MOSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
- Familiarity with commercial construction, general contracting, heavy civil, highway, or infrastructure operations.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training/credentials; OSHA 30 strongly preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification required.
- Knowledge of fall protection, equipment safety, and general construction hazards.
- Experience delivering or assisting with safety training, toolbox talks, and employee education.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with field crews.
- Comfortable utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and digital safety reporting systems.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and travel between active jobsites.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred but not required.
Additional qualifications that would stand out:
- Experience in heavy highway, bridge, roadway, or infrastructure construction.
- Traffic control, flagger, or maintenance‑of‑traffic (MOT) training.
- Exposure to both commercial construction and heavy civil operations.
- Experience supporting contractors with self‑performing field crews.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

- Field‑Focused: You enjoy being on active construction sites and working alongside crews rather than spending your entire day behind a desk.
- Proactive & Accountable: You recognize hazards early, take initiative, and follow through on corrective actions.
- Strong Communicator: You can confidently address safety concerns while building trust and earning the respect of field employees.
- Team‑Oriented: You enjoy collaborating with leadership and understand the importance of supporting a larger safety program.
