Job summary

City of New York's Department of Transportation seeks an Assistant Director, Safety Projects and Programs to lead Street Improvement Projects within Vision Zero priorities. You will oversee complex SIPs, set annual priorities, and partner with TPM to advance street safety and mobility for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

The role emphasizes community outreach, presenting to public officials and community boards, plus mentoring staff and preparing technical reports, graphics and maps.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in city planning or related field; or a bachelor’s with relevant experience.
• At least five years of full-time urban/transportation planning experience.
• Two+ years of experience managing high-profile transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex Street Improvement Projects (SIPs) and SIP priorities.
• Analyze Vision Zero and NYC Street Plan priorities; coordinate with TPM.
• Represent SPP in community outreach and meetings with officials and boards.
• Prepare reports, graphics, and maps; supervise staff and interns.
