Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) seeks a Project Coordinator for Safety Projects and Programs to advance street safety improvements across DOT corridors. You will help plan, design, conduct outreach, and implement projects aligned with Vision Zero and the Bus Action Plan.

The role emphasizes research, crash analysis, field work, data presentation, and cross-agency coordination. Strong communication and MS Office familiarity are expected; a NYS driver's license is required.

Qualifications

Master's degree in transportation engineering, mathematics, urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, urban studies, or related fields.
Bachelor's degree in engineering + 1 year of technical roadway/traffic experience.
Bachelor's degree + 2 years of traffic/roadway experience.
Associate degree + four years of experience in traffic-related work.
High school diploma or equivalent + six years of experience in traffic work.

Responsibilities

Plan, develop, design, outreach, and implement street improvement projects to enhance safety for pedestrians, vehicles, bicyclists, transit users, and motorcyclists.
Conduct research and crash analysis to identify high-crash locations.
Scope and design safety improvements and analyze traffic data.
Prepare reports, graphics, and maps; perform field work and site evaluations.
Coordinate project implementation and provide technical assistance to senior staff.
Participate in community outreach, meetings with officials and stakeholders.
