Job summary

GCC is seeking a Safety Specialist to act as the staff expert in safety at our Tijeras, NM location (15 minutes from Albuquerque). The role reports to the Safety Director and works closely with the Plant Manager to build a strong safety culture and reduce regulatory exposure.

Responsibilities include developing programs, delivering training, and advising at all levels of the organization. Must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years in safety management; MSHA experience is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with at least 5 years of safety program management experience.
• MSHA experience strongly desired.
• Certified training for dust/silica & noise sampling preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulations and procedures.
• Ability to write reports, procedures, and training materials.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to other plants as needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as staff safety specialist to control exposures and minimize regulatory violations.
• Provide guidance, awareness and solutions to ensure safe, reliable operations.
• Lead safety culture initiatives as a change leader, educator and mentor.
• Interact daily with field workforce to build relationships and provide safety expertise.
• Develop and deliver safety orientations, meetings and annual updates.
• Monitor adherence to safety policies and report discrepancies to management.
• Collaborate with senior management to set safety goals and metrics.
• Drive continuous safety improvements across the organization.
