Job summary

Gilbane Building is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead the safety function for a mega project in Chicago. You will guide safety culture, develop project safety plans, and coordinate with field teams to ensure compliance and protection of personnel.

You will mentor Safety Managers, analyze SafetyNet data, close open items timely, and collaborate with business development on client safety qualifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the safety culture implementation across the project.
• Develops and communicates project safety plans based on assessments.
• Performs SafetyNet inspections with numerous observations monthly.
• Audits project teams’ adherence to the Safety Plan using SafetyNet.
• Analyzes SafetyNet data and shares trends with teams.
• Mentors safety professionals and supports corrective actions.
• Ensures open SafetyNet items are closed promptly.
• Helps teams develop corrective action plans.
• Identifies and provides relevant safety training.
• Investigates and documents incidents per policy.
• Analyzes leading/lagging indicators and advises leadership on focus areas.
• Develops and mentors Safety Managers under oversight.
• Supports client safety pre-qualifications and presentations.
• Participates in peer group meetings and industry organizations.
• Assists with internal safety awards and related initiatives.
• Coaches team members and fosters career development.
• Maintains an inclusive, safe work environment.
• Aligns safety objectives with organizational strategy across teams.
• Collaborates with business development to integrate safety with sales and client deliverables.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering preferred
