Job summary

Robert Bosch Tool Corporation in Mount Prospect, Illinois seeks a Senior Product Safety Engineer to ensure the safety of new power tools, identify hazards, and devise mitigation measures. You will create and maintain Product Safety Reviews, communicate requirements to development teams, and contribute to user manuals and warning labels.

Requirements include a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 6–8 years NA regulatory experience, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of experience with North American agency approvals (UL, CSA), regulatory compliance (CFR, OSHA), and new product development for consumer products; experience with power tools required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Strong understanding of North American product safety requirements for product design.
• Culturally aware of how North Americans use power tools on job sites, homes and yards.
• Familiarity with hazard identification and documenting countermeasures.

Responsibilities

• Analyze hazards in new power tool designs and develop hazard-mitigation requirements.
• Create and maintain Product Safety Reviews throughout development.
• Communicate safety requirements to project teams via meetings, calls and emails.
• Review test reports to ensure safety qualification requirements are met.
• Provide safety input for user manuals and warnings; review content for safety concerns.
• Mentor and train other Product Safety Engineers and project teams.
• Create and update safety procedures and design guidelines.
• Support investigations of field returns and testing.
• Challenge product teams on appropriate hazard mitigation methods.
