Job summary

Programmers.io is seeking a Senior Software Engineer focusing on Rust-based distributed systems in Austin, TX / Sunnyvale, CA onsite. You will contribute to a multi-tiered data orchestration service used by AI/ML systems, with emphasis on high performance, maintainable code, and rigorous testing.

You will work in a small team applying pair-programming, code ownership, and modern Rust tooling to deliver robust backend services and scalable distributed components.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting highly scalable applications and web services.
• Proficiency with Rust (async/await, Sync/Send, etc.).
• Experience with concurrent programming (locking, memory synchronization, atomic operations).
• Knowledge of distributed systems concepts (consensus, replication, failure detection).
• Experience with blob storage solutions.
• Experience with distributed key-value databases.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containers.
• Experience with Linux system internals.
• Experience with storage systems and internals.
• Experience with back-end web technologies.

Responsibilities

• All team members own the complete lifecycle of features: identify areas for improvement, propose changes, drive implementation, and support in production.
• Collaborate in a small, agile team with pair-programming and code ownership.
• Develop a distributed multi-tiered data orchestration service for AI/ML workloads.
