Job summary

Kraken is building the future of open finance and seeks an experienced Rust software engineer to design and implement robust services powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences.

You will work with hundreds of engineers in a high-performance culture, shipping reliable, low-latency systems, and taking end-to-end ownership from design to production while mentoring others. Strong security mindset and cross-stack debugging are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficient in writing network services or asynchronous code in Rust.
• Security-first mindset during system design to ensure robustness.
• Autonomously debug issues across the stack (OS, network, application).
• Understanding of distributed systems and technologies including RPC protocols, Kafka, and Event-Driven Systems.
• Collaborate with product teams to gather requirements and constraints.
• Take end-to-end ownership of systems and libraries.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical culture.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust Rust services and libraries powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code that scales across teams and revenue-critical systems.
• Collaborate on large-scale distributed systems architecture for low-latency solutions.
