Job summary

L3Harris Integrated Mission Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Rust Software Developer to guide the adoption of Rust across embedded platforms, lead the modernization of legacy code, and shape best practices for memory-safe design in mission-critical systems.

You will work within a Scrum team on complex software spanning hardware interfaces, cross-functional validation, and rigorous testing, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to translate requirements into reliable,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience.
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
• 3+ years of experience developing Rust software for production systems with a deep understanding of the language.
• Experience with C/C++ development.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the engineering team members in embedded software application development specifically with Rust.
• Lead the adoption and deployment of Rust and associated techniques, idioms, design patterns, and tooling throughout multiple product lines.
• Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts in the development of software for the target hardware.
• Work closely with cross functional members to develop interfaces between hardware and software and performance requirements.
• Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware-software integration, and formal test.
• Investigate root causes of complex issues and implement solutions, independently or with a multi-discipline team.
• Develop software test plans and procedures and other relevant technical documentation.
• Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct tests, prototype, and evaluate results.
• Participate in peer reviews, identify and repair defects.
• Utilize a variety of software languages (primarily Rust, C/C++, and Python).
