Job summary

Read AI, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance the Read desktop experience. You will ship features that unify the desktop app UI, extend capture and processing on Windows and macOS, and drive native layer improvements across OS boundaries.

You’ll work with product and design to translate problems into robust Rust/TS solutions, ensuring reliable releases and high-quality code as the company scales its AI-powered collaboration platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building software professionally, with desktop or client apps.
• Shipped installed software to real users on Windows/macOS.
• Proficient in Rust or strong systems experience with a desire to use Rust.
• Comfortable with React and TypeScript in a native/web boundary.
• Knowledge of OS-level concerns: permissions, device access, packaging.

Responsibilities

• Build the unified desktop experience across Windows and macOS.
• Own the native Rust code and end-to-end release quality (signing, notarization, auto-update).
• Collaborate with product and design to shape roadmap and feasibility.
• Improve on-device processing and integration with external devices.
