Job summary

Virtual Staff 365 seeks a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade FinTech applications. You will build robust RESTful APIs and integrations with external financial services while improving security and performance.

You will collaborate with architects and analysts to translate requirements into scalable solutions, owning tasks end-to-end in a fully remote US-based environment. Extensive RoR experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Substantial hands-on experience developing and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications.
• Strong backend development expertise including application architecture and database design.
• Strong PostgreSQL experience including database queries and performance optimisation.
• Experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs and third-party services.
• Understanding of secure software development practices within regulated environments.

They are now seeking to hire a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise-grade FinTech applications. This role is essential for delivering new features, system enhancements, and seamless integrations across an established financial services platform.

Job Responsibilities

Development and Engineering

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Ruby on Rails
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations with external financial services platforms
• Write clean, secure, well-structured, and thoroughly tested code following established best practices
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement, security, and modernisation of the core platform including framework upgrades

Analysis and Problem Solving

• Analyse business and technical requirements to translate them into reliable and scalable software solutions
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues including application performance and production defects
• Work independently on complex and business-critical development assignments

Collaboration and Delivery

• Take ownership of assigned tasks to ensure high-quality solutions are delivered within agreed project timelines
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle including testing, deployment, and ongoing support
• Collaborate closely with Solutions Architects, developers, business analysts, and testers to achieve successful project outcomes

• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
• Previous experience in FinTech, banking, lending, loan origination, or credit management
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology
