Job summary

EVONA in Seattle is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer to lead RTL design and FPGA development for advanced radar systems. You will translate radar algorithms into mission-critical firmware, collaborating across hardware, software, mechanical, and signal-processing teams.

Ideal candidates are autonomous, capable of owning complex projects, and delivering high-quality solutions on schedule in a fast-moving startup environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years in embedded firmware development, preferably with radar or mission-critical systems.
• Strong RTL design experience with Verilog and/or VHDL, including aerospace applications.
• Hands-on RTL bring-up, verification on target hardware, and SoC/FPGA integration.
• Experience with synthesis, place and route, and timing analysis.
• Familiarity with interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, RS-422 and reading schematics.
• Git, CI pipelines, code reviews, and version-control workflows.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a multidisciplinary team to define firmware requirements.
• Architect, design, and implement embedded firmware for radar sensor payload.
• Develop control and signal-processing functions in Verilog or VHDL.
• Evaluate complexity, maintainability, and FPGA resource needs.
• Produce technical trade studies for architecture decisions.
• Integrate RTL designs onto FPGA/SoC with synthesis, place&route, timing closure.
• Lead bring-up, verification, and validation on prototype and flight hardware.
• Collaborate with radar algorithm, electrical, software, and mechanical engineers.
