Job summary

EVONA in Seattle seeks a Director of Radar Payloads to own the end-to-end development of spaceborne electronically-steered radar payloads. You will lead RF/microwave, antennas, digital/FPGA, firmware, power, mechanical/thermal, systems, AI&T, and manufacturing teams, delivering on schedule and budget while interfacing with customers and suppliers.

This is a hands-on leadership role with real ownership to build the team and hardware program, moving at a fast startup pace in Geospatial

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related STEM; MS or PhD preferred.
  • 10+ years in RF/radar/space payload hardware or mission-critical systems.
  • Senior technical leader owning architecture and delivery of complex payloads.

Responsibilities

  • Own radar payload architecture and baseline across aperture, RF, digital processing, timing, power, thermal and control electronics.
  • Lead full payload lifecycle from requirements through design reviews, prototype builds, qualification, and spacecraft integration.
  • Recruit, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary payload team; set priorities and ownership.
  • Partner with Systems Engineering, radar algorithms, software/firmware, GNC, spacecraft, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to achieve performance.
  • Own payload V&V, calibration, and flight-readiness strategy including RF performance and environmental qualification.
  • With PMO, manage integrated plans, budgets, schedules, risks, and recovery actions to meet commitments.
  • Drive manufacturability, testability, reliability, cost, and production readiness; transition to repeatable manufacturing.
  • Serve as payload focal point for customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and test facilities; lead reviews and issue resolution.
