Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Right of Way Agent in Richmond, VA to support transportation and infrastructure projects. You will coordinate utility rights, perform title research, and secure easements while interfacing with project managers, engineers, and landowners.

The role is hybrid, requiring travel and field work; you’ll apply knowledge of VDOT ROW laws and URA guidelines to ensure compliant, timely acquisitions.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of right of way laws.
• Ability to digitally compile title abstracts illustrating a complete chain of title and encumbrances.
• Problem solving using professional judgement, creativity and innovation.
• Ability to multitask on various tasks and projects.
• Initiative in coordinating with team members.
• Effective communication of concepts to others.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Reading land survey documents and right of way maps.

Responsibilities

• Performs right of way title research including records and closings.
• Research courthouse records: Deeds, Leases, Easements, Mortgages, and more.
• Conduct title searches up to 100 years.
• Utilize online databases to identify landowners and perform title research.
• Quality control of own work and others’.
• Prepare reports for weekly project status meetings on ROW acquisition.
• Meet property owners to secure signed easements.
• Communicate clearly and maintain excellent organizational skills.
