Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks a Senior Rolling Mill Engineer/Process Line Specialist with 15+ years in rolling and process lines. You will lead studies, manage vendors, and ensure safe, cost-effective plant designs for steel and aluminum facilities.

Travel domestically and internationally is expected; Ontario-licensed engineers are encouraged to apply. Base salary ranges from $150,000 to $200,000 with incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical, chemical, materials science, mechanical, electrical, or related field.
• 15+ years of rolling and/or process line experience in metals industries.
• Licensed professional engineer in Ontario.
• Strong knowledge of downstream steel and aluminum production routes and equipment.
• Experience with hot/cold mills and strip processing lines.
• Experience in process modeling, materials balances, yield calculations, and equipment design.
• Ability to interface with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; travel to sites domestically and internationally.
• Commitment to safety in design and on-site activities.
• Willingness to contribute to business development and team growth in Canada/US.

Responsibilities

• Lead rolling mill and process line studies from concept to startup.
• Direct studies, vendors, and project teams on technical directions.
• Provide process and technology expertise across rolling and finishing.
• Review process design criteria, material balances, and equipment specs.
• Integrate process requirements into safe, operable plant designs.
• Support client engagement, workshops, site assessments, and proposals.
• Contribute to commissioning, ramp-up, and operational readiness.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in industry groups.
• Possibly assume Downstream Team management.
