Location: Remote

Shift & Hours: Monday - Friday, 7am - 4:30pm

Requirements: 3 years Medical Records experience and 1 year release of information experience.

Our ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of related work experience in medical records with 1 year of release of information experience. Our ROI team ensures all regulatory requirements are followed, including record reconciliation, maintenance, retrieval, scanning, indexing, and validation of records.

This is a fully remote position available in the following states: AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV, WA, WI, WY.

Position Summary

This role involves coordinating and processing high volumes of requests for confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA, federal, state, and regulatory guidelines across the Banner Health system (hospitals, clinics, urgent care facilities). It may include leadership duties and acting as a liaison between management and staff, ensuring high-quality customer service and process improvement.

Core Functions
  1. High-volume health information releases: Conduct routine and complex releases in accordance with policies and laws, prepare certified copies for external review and legal proceedings.
  2. Workflow monitoring: Oversee daily processes, identify improvement opportunities, and serve as backup staff as needed.
  3. Reporting and projects: Compile statistics, generate reports, and support departmental goals and process enhancements.
  4. Training and communication: Assist in staff orientation, training, and promote effective communication and customer service.
  5. Customer service: Provide assistance to patients, vendors, physicians, and staff via various communication channels.
  6. Independent work and compliance: Work independently, ensure adherence to policies and federal/state regulations, and handle legal record requests with attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of health information practices, demonstrated through 1+ years post-high school education in medical records and information systems, and at least 1 year of release of information experience. Strong understanding of medical terminology, organization skills, confidentiality, and problem-solving abilities are essential. Proficiency in Windows, EHR systems, and multiple databases is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Current enrollment in RHIT or RHIA programs, experience in coordinating team functions, and a background in medical terminology are preferred. Additional education or experience in related fields is also advantageous.
