Location: Remote

Shift: Days & Hours: Monday - Friday 7am-4:30pm

Requirements: 3 years Medical Records and 1 year release of information experience.

Our ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of related work experience in medical records with 1 year of release of information experience. Our ROI team ensures all regulatory requirements are followed, reconciles medical record activity, maintains records in centralized locations, retrieves charts, and scans, indexes, and validates records.

This is a fully remote position and available only in the following states: AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV, WA, WI & WY.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position manages a high volume of requests for confidential patient information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, Federal, state, and regulatory guidelines across the Banner Health system. May act as a leader and liaison, facilitating high-quality customer service and overseeing workflow and process improvements.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  1. Conducts routine, complex, high volume releases of health information in accordance with policies and laws. Acts as a liaison to ROI techs, knowledgeable of applicable regulations, and prepares records for external review and legal proceedings.
  2. Monitors workflow, completes activities, and communicates opportunities for improvement. Serves as backup to ensure department efficiency.
  3. Compiles statistics, generates reports, and supports projects to meet department goals. Meets productivity standards.
  4. Assists with training and re-education of ROI staff. Promotes effective communication and customer satisfaction. Acts as a liaison between staff, providers, and other departments.
  5. Provides customer service to patients, vendors, physicians, and staff via various communication channels.
  6. Works independently, providing leadership and expertise in release of information, ensuring compliance with all guidelines. Determines appropriate payments and prepares records for audits and legal needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires knowledge of health information management, demonstrated through 1+ years post-high school education in medical records and information systems, plus 1 year release of information experience. Must have a thorough understanding of health information practices, medical terminology, and relevant regulations. Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain confidentiality. Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. Technical proficiency in Windows, EHR systems, and databases is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Current enrollment in RHIT or RHIA programs, experience coordinating work groups, and a background in medical terminology are preferred. Additional education or experience related to the role is also advantageous.
