Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Principal Robotics Systems Engineer in Boston to lead all aspects of systems engineering for a surgical robotic platform across the full lifecycle.

You will ensure cohesive behavior across hardware, software, and clinical workflows, translating user needs into well-defined system requirements and robust architecture, while aligning with FDA ISO standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of multidisciplinary systems engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience in surgical robotic systems or complex medical devices.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, firmware/software testing, and electromechanical systems.
• Strong writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define system architecture and develop clear, testable system and subsystem requirements.
• Own the end-to-end requirements lifecycle with traceability from user needs to verification.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across hardware, software, controls, mechanical, clinical, and V&V teams.
• Lead system-level design reviews and support regulatory submissions and product releases.
