Job summary

Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, seeks a Senior Applied Scientist to advance robotics spatial intelligence and semantic understanding. You will research and build world understanding algorithms for robots to observe, understand, and reason about dynamic home environments.

You will collaborate across 3D perception, world modeling, and planning to enable autonomous decision making, navigation, and manipulation, while driving robust evaluation and sim-to-real transfer experiments.

Qualifications

• PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust World Understanding and Modeling algorithms for a domestic robot.
• Build simulation-based and on-robot evaluation frameworks with benchmarks and metrics for systematic evaluation of Spatial Intelligence stack.
• Conduct sim-to-real transfer experiments, analyzing performance gaps and developing techniques to ensure reliable real-world performance.
• Collaborate with navigation, manipulation, and other teams for seamless integration of World Understanding capabilities.
• Stay current with World Modeling, Spatial Reasoning, and related fields to improve system performance.
