Job summary

Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is looking for an Applied Scientist to push state-of-the-art robotics tech. You will lead core research on perception, manipulation, sim2real transfer, and RL, bridging research and real-world deployment in home environments.

You will mentor scientists, collaborate with software engineers, and drive end-to-end solutions from experiments to scalable, deployed models in dynamic human spaces.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of building models for business application experience
• Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• PhD, or Master's degree and 3+ years of applied research experience
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
• Strong publication record at major Robotics/CV conferences (e.g., RSS, CoRL, ICRA, IROS, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV)

Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives in robotics foundation models, RL and manipulation; design experiments to surpass current models
• Design and implement novel deep learning architectures that advance robot understanding and capabilities
• Mentor fellow scientists while contributing technically
• Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize and scale models for real-world applications
• Influence technical decisions and implementation strategies in your focus area
• Communicate complex technical work to a non-technical audience
• Operate with minimal guidance, be proactive and manage evolving goals
• Train ML models for deployment in simulation and real-world robots, document limitations
• Drive technical discussions with team and stakeholders to develop innovative solutions
• Mentor scientists in solving challenges from sim2real to RL
• Maintain hands-on contribution while guiding the team
