Job summary

Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, seeks a Senior Applied Scientist to advance Robotics Spatial Intelligence and Semantic Understanding. You will research and build advanced algorithms enabling robots to observe, understand, and reason about complex home environments—supporting autonomous decision making, planning, navigation, and manipulation.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree with 6+ years of applied research experience.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, TensorFlow, NumPy, SciPy.
• Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust World Understanding and Modeling algorithms for a domestic robot.
• Build simulation-based and on-robot evaluation frameworks with benchmarks and metrics for evaluation of Spatial Intelligence stack.
• Conduct sim-to-real transfer experiments, analyzing performance gaps and improving real-world performance.
• Collaborate with navigation, manipulation, and other teams to ensure integration of World Understanding capabilities.
• Stay current with advances in World Modeling and Spatial Reasoning and apply findings to improve system performance.
