Job summary

Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, seeks an Applied Scientist to advance Robotics Spatial Intelligence and Semantic Understanding. You will research and build world understanding algorithms enabling robots to observe, understand, and reason about dynamic home environments.

You will collaborate across 3D perception, world modeling, and decision-making to support autonomous planning, navigation, and manipulation.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master's degree in CS, CE, ML or related field required.
  • 4+ years of industry or academic research experience.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives and key deliverables.
  • Strong publication record in major Robotics/ML/AI conferences (e.g., RSS, CoRL, ICRA, IROS, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement robust World Understanding and Modeling algorithms for a domestic robot.
  • Build simulation-based and on-robot evaluation frameworks with comprehensive benchmarks and metrics for systematic evaluation of Our Spatial Intelligence stack.
  • Conduct sim-to-real transfer experiments, analyzing performance gaps and developing techniques to ensure reliable real-world performance.
  • Collaborate with navigation, manipulation, and other teams to ensure seamless integration of World Understanding capabilities.
  • Stay current with the latest advances in World Modeling, Spatial Reasoning, and related fields and apply relevant findings to improve system performance.
