Job summary

Serve Robotics Inc. is seeking a senior software engineer to advance our robotic delivery platform. You will design, implement, and maintain middleware and application frameworks in modern C++ on embedded Linux, owning major components across the robot fleet.

Collaborate with Autonomy, Systems, and Hardware teams to ensure safety, reliability, and high performance. You will lead design reviews, drive architectural improvements, and mentor peers while advancing a scalable, observable robotics

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering with production C++ (C++17+).
• Experience in embedded Linux environments for systems software.
• Strong knowledge of multithreaded programming and IPC.
• Experience with latency-sensitive, real-time or high-reliability systems.
• Ability to profile, optimize, and diagnose complex software across hardware boundaries.
• Ability to own complex components end-to-end and communicate well.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain robotics middleware and application frameworks using modern C++ on embedded Linux.
• Own significant platform components from design through validation and operation across the robot fleet.
• Collaborate with teams to identify reliability, performance, and developer experience improvements.
• Work with Autonomy and Systems Engineering on risk analyses and software architecture.
• Translate safety and reliability requirements into software behavior and interfaces.
• Develop instrumentation, logging, and fleet-level metrics to measure performance and health.
• Diagnose and resolve complex system-level issues involving concurrency, scheduling, networking, and compute constraints.
• Contribute to architectural decisions that improve scalability and maintainability.
• Lead design reviews, establish engineering standards, and mentor engineers.
