Job summary

Simbe Robotics in Burlingame, CA seeks a Senior Python & C++ engineer to join our robot software team. You will work on the Tally stack, covering navigation, perception, autonomous behaviors, hardware drivers, cloud integration, and infrastructure management.

You will help build, maintain, and evolve the Tally software to be faster, smarter, more reliable, and easier to test, with a focus on robotics software best practices and production readiness.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field (recommended).
• 5–10 years of industry experience.
• Extremely adept in C++ and Python programming.
• Proficient in shell scripting, Bash and Python.
• Strong knowledge of ROS; ROS1 and ROS2 preferred.
• Experience writing ROS nodes.
• Git experience.
• Ubuntu/Debian Linux experience.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Scrum, and automated testing.
• Experience packaging and deploying software in production.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and extending the Tally software stack.
• Developing new software packages to be shared across Simbe teams.
• Improving Tally's autonomy, navigation, perception, and human-robot interaction (HRI) behaviors.
• Assist in our ongoing DevOps & CI/CD development.
• Evaluating third-party SW (ROS, etc.) packages for integration into our stack.
