Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our world‑class robotics team. You will design, implement, and test software for controlling robotic platforms across land, air, and sea systems, with Kotlin and C++ on cross‑platform targets.

You’ll work closely with hardware engineers to deliver reliable software for Kinesis, our flagship ecosystem, tackle complex system design, and participate in hands‑on field testing. Some roles may require US clearance and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related field with 5+ years of experience.
• Strong C++ (modern standards) and real-time software development.
• Experience with mechatronic or hardware-integrated systems.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and integrate systems in C++ and Kotlin.
• Build cross-platform applications for Android, Linux, and Windows to control robotic platforms.
• Design SDK interfaces for internal and external integration with AV systems.
• Develop automated tests and tooling to ensure real-world reliability.
• Perform hands-on field testing with robots to validate new features.
