Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Simulation Applied Scientist to advance physics-based simulation for robotics at scale. You will blend research with engineering to accelerate robot development and reduce the simulation-to-reality gap, delivering production-grade capabilities and validating on real hardware.

You will work with teams across simulation, control, and safety to push the boundaries of dexterous manipulation, locomotion, and human-robot interaction in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

• PhD in CS, robotics or mechanical engineering.
• Experience in physics‑based simulation and robotics.
• Strong publication record in simulation, robotics or graphics.
• Proven ability to advance state of the art through research.

Responsibilities

• Advance physics-based simulation fidelity for contact-rich manipulation and locomotion.
• Design and build high-performance simulation tools integrated into a production robotics stack.
• Translate research ideas into robust, scalable software pipelines.
• Develop methods to quantify and reduce sim-to-real gaps across design, safety, and control.
• Architect scalable simulation solutions for rigid and deformable dynamics.
• Build simulation pipelines optimized for large-scale reinforcement and policy learning.
• Establish frameworks for continuous simulation improvement using deployment data.
• Collaborate with engineering, science, and safety teams on requirements and validation.
