Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Applied Scientist II in Robotics Simulation to advance the next generation of autonomous systems at scale. You will push forward deep learning, physics-based simulation, and control for dexterous manipulation and locomotion.

Work with world-class teams to translate research into robust, production-ready tools, targeting real-time and batch workflows across facilities. Strong collaboration across teams is essential.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s with 2+ years in CS/CE/ML or related field.
• Strong Python/C++ coding skills and GPU programming experience.
• Experience with robotics simulation environments: MuJoCo, Newton, Drake, or Isaac Lab.
• Solid foundation in numerical methods for multibody dynamics, FEM, or related areas.
• Experience building production-quality scientific or simulation software.
• Proficiency in linear algebra, differential equations, and numerical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with simulation and robotics experts to translate physical modeling needs into robust, scalable simulation solutions.
• Design and implement high-performance simulation modeling for rigid and deformable bodies.
• Identify and optimize bottlenecks in simulation pipelines for real-time and batch workflows.
• Help build validation and unit testing pipelines to ensure correctness and fidelity of results.
• Identify sources of sim-to-real gaps and propose modeling and numerical approximations to reduce them.
• Stay current with advances in numerical methods, parallel computing, and GPU architectures.
