Job summary

FieldAI in Irvine is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to shape the software foundation used by our autonomous systems. You will work across robotics platforms, middleware, and runtime systems to ensure scalable, portable autonomy across embodiments.

You will define robot capability and intent models, design durable APIs, and collaborate with hardware, simulation, and deployment teams to move fast while staying reliable on real hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field and 5+ years of production robotics or systems software.
• Experience with distributed robotic systems and ROS 2.
• Strong C++ and Python skills and API design experience.
• Experience deploying software to real hardware and field environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect the software platform for physical AI across robots and embodiments.
• Define interfaces between subsystems and steward versioned APIs.
• Design robot capability and intent models for dashboards and fleet systems.
• Develop mechanisms for discovering and tracking robot capabilities dynamically.
• Own platform performance end to end including latency and reliability.
• Build middleware and runtime infrastructure for high-bandwidth data movement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and build platform capabilities.
