Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Robotics Platform Architect to own the software foundation for robotics and autonomy across teams.

You will define middleware, runtime, IPC, and platform services, shaping APIs and reference designs for faster deployment of intelligent machines. In this role, you will work with autonomy, controls, ML, simulation, and data teams to build onboard, edge, and cloud compute architectures, with strong emphasis on real‑time execution and scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of robotics platform and middleware architectures.
• Ability to design scalable software architecture for autonomous systems.
• Experience with edge, on‑board, and cloud compute architectures.
• Familiarity with APIs, reference designs, and developer enablement.
• Understanding of agile SDLC in public cloud ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Define end‑to‑end software architecture for Caterpillar Robotics Platform.
• Specify platform services, API interfaces, and reference designs.
• Lead evaluation and deployment of new technologies for digital capabilities.
• Collaborate with autonomy, ML, simulation, and data teams to accelerate delivery.
