Job summary

Boston Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Spot Platform Team. You will own substantial portions of mechanical support and sustainment, driving technical decisions and cross-functional integration to improve reliability and manufacturability of Spot.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in robotic mechanical design, strong CAD skills, and experience with NPI and PLM. This role requires US work authorization and offers growth in a fast-moving robotics company.

Qualifications

5+ years of mechanical design experience in robotics or electromechanical systems.
Leadership of major subsystem or full mechanical product designs.
Eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
Experience with production launch, post-launch support and validation.

Responsibilities

Improve reliability and manufacturability of Spot platform and payloads.
Conduct root cause analysis for field and production issues.
Design, test and implement preventative and corrective measures.
Create ECOs and engineering documentation (BOMs, drawings).
Perform system design evaluations focusing on DFA/DFM, reliability and cost reduction.
Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, and supply chain to meet targets.
Identify replacement components to mitigate obsolescence risks.
