Simplexity Product Development, Inc. is seeking a hands-on senior mechanical engineer to work embedded with a Seattle-area client on a cutting-edge robotics product.

You will own mechanical subsystems from requirements through working hardware, validation, and release-quality documentation. This technical individual contributor role requires leading subsystem decisions, coordinating interfaces, and performing design, analysis, drawing, prototype, and test work in a dynamic environment where

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Robotics or Mechanical Engineering.
• 6+ years in product development with robotics/subsystems ownership.
• Owns robotics or complex electromechanical subsystems end-to-end.
• Hands-on actuation, mechanisms, motor selection, and analysis.
• SolidWorks proficiency, complex assemblies and PDM workflows.
• GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing knowledge.
• Prototype assembly, instrumentation, testing, and root-cause analysis.
• Integrates mechanical with electrical/firmware/systems disciplines.
• Leads technical discussions with clients while hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Convert requirements into mechanical subsystem specs and interfaces.
• Size motors, gearboxes, encoders, bearings for drivetrain needs.
• Perform torque-speed, inertia, thermal, and vibration analyses.
• Design linkages, gears, belts, and moving mechanisms.
• Package electronics and sensors within mechanical envelopes.
• Create and release SolidWorks assemblies and drawings.
• Prototype, test, diagnose failures, and iterate designs.
• Coordinate mechanical interfaces with other disciplines.
• Present tradeoffs and risks to client stakeholders.
