Job summary

Algorized in Silicon Valley is seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer for robotics to architect the safety envelope around people-sensing systems and lead them through PLd/SIL2 certification.

You will own the safety case across hardware, software, and customer applications, with hands-on embedded depth to implement and validate safety-critical code, and travel for audits as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in safety-critical or embedded systems.
• 2–3 years in functional safety.
• Experience taking a product through independent certification.
• Design for failure and safe-state concepts.
• Experience with IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 21448 (SOTIF).
• Strong C/C++ and Python; embedded/edge environments.
• Hands-on hardware/software interfacing with I/O/fieldbuses.
• Willingness to travel for audits.

Responsibilities

• Architect safety envelope for people-sensing software and integration with customer machines.
• Produce quantitative safety case (FMEDA, DC, V&V plans).
• Develop and maintain safety lifecycle and documentation.
• Lead certification discussions with Notified Bodies.
• Collaborate with algorithms, software, and product teams.
• Support commissioning and on-site travel for audits.
