Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking a robotics generalist to build the autonomy stack from perception to control on real machines.

You will own components end-to-end, move from prototype to production, and collaborate in small pods across AI, planning, perception and ROS. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years in engineering, strong C++/Python skills, and hands-on robotics experience across the full stack.

Qualifications

• Typically, 3+ years of related engineering experience.
• Strong robotics generalist comfortable across the autonomy stack.
• Expertise in at least one: AI, motion planning, perception, controls, or SLAM.
• Production-quality C++ and Python.
• ROS (or similar) in real robotics systems.
• Full-lifecycle product experience from idea to production.
• Pragmatic, first-principles engineer who owns components end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Participating in the processes of test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of robotics software.
• Design, build, and ship autonomy components across perception, planning, control, and learning.
• Take work from prototype to production on real hardware.
• Bring depth in your specialty while contributing broadly across the stack.
• Work in small, outcome-owning pods staffed from our capability benches.
