Job summary

Sterling St James LLC in Brown Deer, WI is seeking a Senior Automation & Robotic Cell Design Engineer. This full-time, direct-hire role offers a base salary up to $120,000 per year, plus full benefits, with 100% onsite work in a leading global OEM environment.

You will lead ground-up machine designs, use SolidWorks for large assemblies, integrate robotic cells, and collaborate with machinists, controls engineers, and project teams to deliver complex automation solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or 5–10 years of ground-up equipment design.
• Expert SolidWorks fluency for large assemblies and drawings.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Ground-Up Machine Architecture: lead design integrity for high-speed automated machinery and robotic cells.
• Conceptual Design & Quoting: develop concepts and collaborate with PMs on cost-effective solutions.
• Project & Team Leadership: break down scopes, guide detailers, and coordinate with fabricators.
• Fluid Power & Drive Systems: integrate hydraulics, pneumatics, and servo systems.
• Design Reviews & Safety Verification: conduct early reviews to minimize hazards before shop release.
• Client & Assembly Floor Collaboration: act as technical contact for global clients and resolve issues on site.
