Job summary

Productivity Inc. in Plymouth, Minnesota is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join our growing Automation team. We design and build custom robotic automation systems for manufacturers, focusing on integration of robotics with CNC tools and other equipment.

This hands-on role covers the full automation cell from design to startup, requiring strong FANUC robotics, controls and mechanical design skills, and the ability to mentor other engineers and technicians.

Qualifications

5+ years of automation/robotics engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Design and develop robotic automation and machine-tending systems.
Interpret customer requirements and develop practical solutions within project scope, budget, and timeline.
Program and integrate FANUC robots using ROBOGUIDE and teach-pendant programming.
Develop 2D/3D vision applications, including FANUC iRVision.
Design mechanical automation components, including end-of-arm tooling, part presentation, guarding, fixtures, conveyors, and related equipment.
Develop electrical and controls solutions, including PLC/HMI programming, electrical design, and machine interfaces.
Size and select robots, grippers, servos, cylinders, conveyors, and other automation components.
Perform safety risk assessments and incorporate appropriate machine and robotic safety systems.
Create and maintain mechanical/electrical drawings, control logic, robot programs, and project documentation.
Work closely with Automation Technicians during cell build, testing, troubleshooting, installation, and startup.
Help develop new automation technologies and solutions for future projects.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers and technicians.
