Job summary

Intuitive is seeking a Principal Systems Research Engineer to provide senior technical authority across concept-to-prototype development. You will own systems architecture, requirements flow-down, and risk retirement for multiple early-stage concepts on surgical robotics platforms.

You will lead cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and engage with academic and clinical partners to shape future technologies while turning ideas into validated prototypes through rigorous testing and reviews.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to architect and integrate mechatronic systems end-to-end.
• Experience applying MBSE/UML for architecture, requirements, interfaces and behavior.
• Strong background in robotics, control systems and safety-critical software.

Responsibilities

• Lead system architecture, requirements flow-down and risk retirement for multiple concepts.
• Develop and validate distributed electro-mechanical systems and dynamic models.
• Design control algorithms and software architectures for rapid prototyping of surgical platforms.
• Integrate subsystems into functional prototypes and lead high-risk interface debugging.
• Guide cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership to senior engineers.
