Job summary

Intuitive is seeking a software/controls engineer to advance the teleoperation of the daVinci Surgical System. You will work on controller algorithms, kinematics, and safety features for new instruments and accessories, collaborating with clinical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure performance and regulatory readiness.

Responsibilities include implementing features, tuning the robot's behavior, and documenting risk analyses and test protocols for FDA approval processes.

Qualifications

• Experience with teleoperated robotics control and safety-critical algorithms.
• Ability to analyze mechanisms and optimize performance for safety.
• Collaborates with mechanical design and clinical development teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee teleoperated motion and force fidelity of new surgical instruments.
• Integrate new accessories with the robot system.
• Develop and tune algorithms controlling mechanism behavior.
• Implement new features and maintain existing software.
• Perform risk analysis and document safety requirements and test protocols for regulatory review.
• Work with manufacturing to define test specs and fixtures for calibration and assembly.
• Provide cross-disciplinary leadership to ensure project success.
