Job summary

H&H is seeking a Mid-Level Roadway/Transportation Engineer to join our Highway Group in Boston, MA. You will contribute to roadway design, project engineering, client coordination, and mentor junior staff, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has 5–15 years of highway experience, a PE license or eligibility within six months, and proficiency with MassDOT standards and Bentley/AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• 5–15 years of highway/roadway design experience.
• PE license or ability to obtain within six months.
• Familiarity with MassDOT design standards.
• Drainage design experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Produce roadway and transportation designs for new and rehabilitation roadway projects.
• Attend client project meetings, participate in proposals and presentations, manage project tasks and projects, and meet with regulatory agencies.
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with other members of the design team.
• Manage, train, and mentor less experienced engineers in the production of plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Perform project engineering responsibilities related to project communication, scheduling, budget, and progress across multiple concurrent tasks.
• Assist with local marketing efforts, including proposal preparation, professional chapter meetings, and municipal functions and meetings.

Requirements

• Five to fifteen years of relevant highway, interchange, and roadway design experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain licensure within six months
• Familiarity with Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) design standards
• Drainage design experience preferred
• Proficiency in Bentley CONNECT Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Detail-oriented, goal-oriented, and self-motivated, with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage small design groups and projects
