Job summary

Hires Group is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer to lead high‑impact roadway projects and guide teams through design work and client coordination. The role provides technical ownership and visibility on major transportation programs in the Knoxville area.

With a PE license and 7+ years of experience, you will ensure design standards compliance, perform calculations, and conduct quality control reviews. Proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• 7+ years of transportation/civil project experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation design projects including roadway geometry and interchanges.
• Quality Assurance of plan production to corporate standards.
• Collaborate with sales to respond to RFPs.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, consultants, local governments and DOT.
• Provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with design standards.
• Perform engineering studies, design calculations, and QC reviews.
• Utilize MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer to advance capabilities.

Job description

Lead high-impact roadway projects as a Senior Roadway Engineer, while guiding teams through design and client coordination. This role offers technical ownership, meaningful team leadership, and strong visibility across major transportation projects shaping communities.

The job:

• Help lead transportation engineering design projects, including roadway geometry, interchanges, arterials, and complete streets.
• Quality Assurance of plan production to ensure corporate standards are met.
• Collaborate with the sales team to develop strong responses to RFPs.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, consultants, local governments and DOT.
• Provide technical expertise to ensure compliance with state and federal design standards.
• Perform engineering studies, design calculations, and quality control reviews of models, drawings, and reports.
• Use tools such as MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer, enhancing technical capabilities.
