Job description

Transportation and Roadway Design Engineering Leader

We are seeking a motivated and client‑focused Roadway Design Engineer to support the planning and design of transportation infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with roadway geometry, drainage, traffic design, and regulatory compliance, with strong technical skills and a collaborative mindset. This position offers opportunities for growth and mentorship while contributing to meaningful transportation solutions.

Base pay range

$150,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preliminary engineering, including conceptual and schematic roadway design.
  • Support planning and design activities for roadway projects involving:
    • Geometric layout
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Pavement design
    • Intersections
    • Lighting
    • Traffic control and signage
  • Prepare detailed design calculations and construction documents in compliance with local, state (ODOT), and federal regulations.
  • Develop Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and Traffic Control plans and specifications.
  • Prepare contract documents including project specifications, quantity take‑offs, and cost estimates.
  • Assist with permitting processes and regulatory compliance at the local, county, state, and federal levels.
  • Guide junior staff on technical objectives, critical design elements, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and review agencies to ensure project success.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program
  • Minimum of 3 years of roadway design experience
  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Experience with ODOT and/or local standards and specifications
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency required
  • Familiarity with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer is a plus
