Job summary

STV is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer for our Transportation Division in North Carolina, with offices in Raleigh, Charlotte, or Winston-Salem. The role focuses on managing transportation projects, delivering high-quality design, and leading client interactions across multiple municipalities and NCDOT.

The candidate will mentor staff and help drive STV’s growth in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in roadway/bridge design, a Civil Engineering degree, and an NC PE

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years in roadway or bridge design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• NC PE license required or achievable within 6 months.
• Experience with intersections, roundabouts, interchanges, widenings, and bike/ped facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management and professional design services for transportation improvement projects.
• Manage design, provide senior-level designs, and QC for roadway geometry, drainage, and signing.
• Lead meetings with clients and coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines.
• Mentor design staff and coordinate with office leadership on scope and budgets.
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.

Job description

STV Has An Immediate Need In Either Our Raleigh, Charlotte Or Winston-Salem North Carolina Offices For a Senior Roadway Engineer In Our Transportation Division. The Successful Candidate Will

• Provide project management and professional design services for transportation improvement projects for municipal agencies, local governments, and NCDOT.
• Manage design, provide senior-level functional designs, and provide QC for roadway geometry and details, drainage, work zone traffic control, pavement markings, and signing for transportation infrastructure.
• Interact with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams
• Design experience using MicroStation, Geopak
• Coordinate design development and assisting with technical direction to other design staff
• Coordinate with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget
• Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
• Work with practice and office leadership, client development, business development and industry participation to advance your career and STV’s growth.
• Facilitate and lead project meetings both within STV and with clients.
• Create, maintain, and monitor scopes, fees, schedules, staffing projections, risk registers, sub agreements, QC records, deliverable submittals, invoices.
• Establish working relationships and interface with client technical staff and client project managers
• Mentor supporting Civil design staff

The ideal candidate is an individual who is a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and possesses a comprehensive understanding of pre-construction project management of roadway and bridge projects.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10+ years of experience in all technical aspects of roadway design or bridge design
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required
• NC PE license is required or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Experience in project management and design of intersections, roundabouts, interchanges, widenings, and bike/ped facilities.
• Experience with NCDOT and other NC municipalities
• Strong inter-personal skills for client and other engineering discipline interaction.

Compensation Range

$139,693.44 - $159,649.65
