The Tennessee Department of Transportation seeks Roadway Design Transportation Engineering Specialist 3 & 4 to support project teams in Davidson County. You will apply TDOT specifications, policies, and procedures to roadway design elements, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safety and cohesion across projects.

You will continuously evaluate performance indicators, mentor teams, and translate technical concepts into clear designs while aligning with TDOT’s Asset

Qualifications

• Education from an accredited institution is required.
• Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering, Construction PM, or CIM is accepted.
• Experience requirements vary by Specialist level (1–2+ years).

Responsabilités

• Define scope of roadway design elements using the PDN process and prepare roadway deliverables.
• Incorporate Quality Management into all design outputs and resolve comments from QC reviews.
• Provide roadway designs using engineering software and assess permits and traffic control.
• Support safety and risk mitigation through context-sensitive design concepts and coordination.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to project stakeholders and share knowledge with teams.
• Stay current on roadway design practices, specs, and innovative construction methods.

1 year of demonstrated competency in planning, developing and/or constructing projects (alternative for Specialist IV pathways)
