DLZ Corporation in Columbus, OH is seeking a Design Engineer - Roadway with 5–12 years of roadway experience to design and deliver public infrastructure projects. You will apply standards, develop plan sets, and collaborate with engineers and PMs to ensure constructible designs.

The role uses OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and Civil 3D, requires independence and attention to detail, and offers a path to mentorship and career growth within a nationally recognized firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering as required.
• 5–12 years of roadway or transportation design experience.
• Hands-on experience with OpenRoads Designer/MicroStation or Civil 3D.
• Experience producing roadway construction plans for public infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of roadway geometry, grading, and drainage.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on roadway and transportation design for ODOT and LPA projects.
• Develop construction plan sets with horizontal/vertical alignments and profiles.
• Apply ODOT design manuals, standards, and specifications.
• Produce CAD designs using OpenRoads Designer/MicroStation and/or Civil 3D.
• Review drawings for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Mentor junior designers and project managers to support project delivery.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to deliver projects.
• Occasionally visit field sites and incorporate field data into designs.
