You will lead geometric road design, traffic analyses, and hydraulic design for stormwater systems, guiding project teams to safe, efficient outcomes.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a prominent engineering firm in Welkom, is seeking a Senior Roads and Stormwater Engineer to lead the design and implementation of critical infrastructure projects. This role involves a blend of office-based design and site-based supervision, offering a dynamic hybrid work experience. You will be responsible for the geometric design of roadways, traffic analysis, and the hydraulic design of stormwater systems, contributing to the development and upgrading of transportation networks in the Free State. Your expertise will guide project teams and ensure the delivery of efficient, safe, and sustainable transportation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the detailed design of road infrastructure, including alignment, intersection design, and pavement engineering.
• Perform hydraulic analysis and design of urban and rural stormwater systems, including culverts and channels.
• Prepare design reports, tender documentation, and construction supervision plans.
• Conduct traffic impact assessments and develop traffic management plans.
• Ensure designs comply with the latest South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) standards and municipal requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians involved in road and stormwater design projects.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering, with ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng).
• A minimum of 8 years of proven experience in road and stormwater engineering.
• Strong knowledge of geometric road design principles and traffic engineering.
• Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Infoworks ICM, or similar.
• Experience with contract administration and site supervision for infrastructure projects.
• Excellent project management and client liaison skills.
