Job summary

DOTD - Engineering & Operations in Louisiana seeks an Engineer 6 to lead the Road Design Squad, supervising plan preparation and expert in hydraulic and geometric design. The role requires a current LA PE license and substantial licensed engineering experience, with opportunities to coordinate with state and federal agencies and manage major project scopes.

Qualifications

Current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering.
Two years of licensed engineering experience; or six years of professional engineering experience.
Experience substitutions: master's substitutes for 1 year, doctorate for 2 years, advanced degrees up to 2 years.
No substitution for licensed engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Supervises plan preparation and manages the design squad workload and project scope.
Prepares detailed roadway designs including hydraulic and geometric aspects.
Directs consulting firms and handles fees and scopes of work for roadway design.
Represents DOTD in meetings with agencies and the public.
Coordinates plan development with other state and federal agencies.
