Job summary

Matrix Design Group LLC is seeking a Senior RMA Repair Technician for our home office in Newburgh, IN. Lead advanced inspection, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and warranty evaluation for returned electronics, ensuring quality and timely turnaround.

You will document results, mentor technicians, and help improve repair procedures while coordinating with Customer Success, Engineering, and Quality teams in a fast-paced repair environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent technical training and experience considered.
• 3-5 years of experience in electronics testing, troubleshooting, repair, manufacturing, field service, or a related technical environment.
• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, bills of materials, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Proficient with electronic test and diagnostic equipment, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators.
• Hands-on experience with soldering, de-soldering, component replacement, and printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) repair.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues, document findings, and communicate technical information effectively.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality and accurate documentation.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and lead the daily activities of technicians in a fast-paced repair environment.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills, with a focus on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to improve product reliability and repair processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing, troubleshooting, repair, and validation of returned electronic assemblies, subassemblies, and finished goods.
• Perform advanced component-level diagnostics using schematics, work instructions, test procedures, and standard electrical test equipment.
• Determine repairability versus scrap based on technical findings, cost considerations, product condition, and guidelines.
• Disassemble and reassemble products to access internal components and verify operation after repair.
• Document test results, root cause findings, repair actions, parts used, and final disposition in systems.
• Prioritize incoming RMA units to support customer commitments and turnaround expectations.
• Maintain inventory to support repairs and control department stock.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe repair area and proper tool/equipment usage.
• Support development and improvement of repair procedures, test instructions, and documentation standards.
• Provide guidance and training to repair technicians and team members.
• Collaborate with Customer Success, Engineering, Quality, Assembly, Warehouse, and Field Service teams to identify recurring issues.
