Placements24 is seeking a Senior Risk Manager to lead the operational and strategic risk management framework for a prominent financial services institution in Randburg, Gauteng. The role demands identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating risks to protect the organization’s objectives and reputation.

The ideal candidate will have extensive risk management experience, strong analytical skills, and proven leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Risk Management, Business or related discipline.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in risk management, with focus on operational and strategic risks in financial services/insurance.
Professional certifications such as CRM, PRM or FRM are highly desirable.
Familiarity with COSO ERM and enterprise-wide risk management frameworks.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's operational and strategic risk management framework.
Identify risks through workshops, scenario analysis, and data analysis.
Assess risk likelihood and impact; develop mitigation strategies.
Design and oversee risk controls and monitoring mechanisms.
Conduct root cause analysis of risk events and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare regular risk reports for senior management and the board.
Promote risk management culture through training and communication.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry practices.
Manage and mentor a team of risk professionals.
